Partnership for Children
Partnership for Children is a UK registered charity that helps children to be mentally and emotionally healthy – just as exercise, good food and sleep help them to be physically healthy.
We have developed a range of well- evidenced programmes to help young children across the entire primary school age range to learn how to deal with difficulties, so that they’ll be better able to cope with problems and crises now and as teenagers and adults.
1 in 8 school-age children currently have a diagnosable mental health problem. Half of all adult mental health problems start by the age of 14, and 75% by the age of 18. That’s why it’s vital to invest in preventing mental health problems at an early age.
School-based programmes such as those produced by Partnership for Children are a proven way to promote good mental health and help all children develop skills which will enhance their present and future emotional well-being.
Modern life can be full of challenges for our children. We can’t change this but we can help children to develop the skills they will need to cope with life’s difficulties, to understand and manage their emotions and to develop resilience. To date over 2 million children have taken part in the Skills for Life programmes. Our vision is a world in which the development of mental health and emotional resilience is part of life for every child – at home, at school and in the community.
Last year more than 180,000 children enrolled in our Skills for Life programmes around the world. That’s a big number but only a small fraction of the world’s children. There is both the need and the opportunity to do more.
We want to build the social and emotional skills of children across the entire primary school age range through well-evidenced programmes and collaborative, multi-lateral partnerships.
Our goals for 2020 – 2022:
- Reach more children and young people, including underserved groups, through evidence-informed programmes
- Enhance partnerships to increase reach and sustainability
- Grow our funding to resource our ambitions for new programmes and partnerships
- Optimise the structure and capacity of Partnership for Children to deliver our strategic goals
